No Need to Panic, Dropbox Wasn’t Hacked

“A subsequent list of usernames and passwords has been posted online. We’ve checked and these are not associated with Dropbox accounts,” Dropbox stated via the blog post.

According to the file hosting service, these usernames and passwords were stolen from “unrelated services, not Dropbox.” Hackers have then used the leaked passwords to access Dropbox accounts. If you use the same password across several websites, then you may have been affected. Although, Dropbox reassures that all user data is safe.

Either way, it would be wise to change your Dropbox password, just in case. Also, activate the 2 step verification on your account for extra security.
