The new place to eat in Cambridge City, Indiana, No. 9 Grill, promises a fine dining experience.

Where’s the number “9″ come from? Why, it’s housed in the old No. 9 Lodge, of course!

Don’t let the thought of “fine dining” hold you back. No really! Jeans and t-shirts are just as prevalent here as folks sporting duds of a dressier nature.

The old lodge is almost unrecognizable. From the stunning entry to the lovely sheen of the flooring, the exposed brick walls, and the ambient lighting make it clear that No. 9 is set up for success! But would the food deliver?

Starting off with the beer and wine menu certainly didn’t hurt the experience!

After ordering drinks, we devoted our full attention to the menu. It deserved it! From starters to desserts, No. 9 Grill covers all the bases without being overpowering.

Appetizers range from Mac ‘n Cheese Bites to Onion Straws to The No. 9 Shrimp Cocktail. We liked the variety! We also like Fried Pickles so we ordered those to begin.

The menu at No. 9 Grill contains salads, steaks (including a weekend Prime Rib), and a very nice sandwich menu. The Blues Burger: bacon, blue cheese, and Cajun seasoning was tempting!

Reasonably priced, the kids menu holds the typical kid friendly items like hot dogs and grilled cheese sandwiches. Our youngest opted for the mini burgers with a side of applesauce. The oldest, however, wanted a burger from the adult menu. You wouldn’t know it, but that boy can EAT! He decided to have chips and salsa as a side.

As a Midwesterner, meat and potatoes are kind of my thing. As a Hoosier, so are pork tenderloin sandwiches!

This was a nice sandwich. A thicker pork tenderloin, it was heavily coated in breading and served on a bun. It’s homemade and hand-breaded–and you can tell! Nicely done. I had mine with a side of wedge fries. Those were made for dipping into ranch dressing.

My husband tried the bacon cheeseburger. Served with a sweet potato, it was visually appealing and tasty, too! YUM!

As the only dinner option in downtown Cambridge City, No. 9 Grill can become a very, very busy place! There is a lot of seating but expect to wait if you visit during prime dinner hours and days.

Hopefully you can catch on of the many antique shops open while you wait!
