One thing that has been out of our hands for the wedding is the cake – we decided we’d like a surprise and to be honest, didn’t really know where to start anyway! Wedding cakes are a minefield at the best of times. A friend and neighbour of Richard’s family, Gina, is absolutely ace at making cakes, and when she offered to make ours as our wedding present – how could we refuse!
I made a cake inspiration board for her along the lines of ivory and black and left her to her own devices! We’ve tasted her trial cake – and it was the most amazing cake I have ever eaten! I’ve never been keen on wedding cake and I don’t like icing, so instead of the traditional, our cake will be a chocolate ganache cake with a raspberry filling – all covered in rollable white chocolate! Oh yes oh yes.
Gina sent me a photo of the cake topper today – it is absolutely beautiful! Gina is a genius. Yes – that’s all icing! I’m baffled at how she does it.
