#Nintendo #E3 Predictions
What's to come from Mario's house? Well, it's that time of year again folks (nerds). Ol E3, where all of the best and brightest come together to reveal new consoles, new games, and new ways I will plummet my money into something that makes me not so much of an adult. So what does E3 have in store from Nintendo? Well since some douche did Sony and Microsoft already, I suppose I'll be the one to tell you.
-The New Nintendo Console reveal
Everyone knows its coming, now its just time to remove the rumors and hearsay and finally get some concrete information to the successor to the Wii. Will it finally catch up with the times and be in HD like its said, and can it really be stronger than the PS3 and the 360 as rumored? I sincerely doubt it but we'll find out. We should also get a somewhat vague release window for it, I'm guessing towards the Holiday season of 2012, just in time for the Apocalypse. Also we should see if that crazy touchscreen controller rumor is true, but if anyone can do it, the insane innovators at Nintendo can. In terms of games for that system? I'm sure you'll get a tease of some form of Mario at least, perhaps a snippet of a follow up to Smash Brothers and.....
-Legend of Zelda:Skyward Sword heads to the new console
Remember when the last Zelda game did that? Well it looks like it could happen again, with Skyward Sword being a "Wii 2" launch title. What does that mean for the Wii version? It will still come out, I'm just not sure when that will be. Will Nintendo really release it on the Wii and then again less than a year later?
-New Nintendo console gets surprising third party support
Nintendo is known for having awesome games based on their beloved franchises, then not much else. That will change with the next console. Developers will come back to Nintendo and make games for the new system like they did for the SNES. Rockstar will be one as well as the usual suspects of Square-Enix, Ubisoft, and some surprising others.
-3DS gets some first party action
You know they're coming, now you will actually get to see them in some form, not just a title tease. Mario 3DS, and possibly more of the plumber's offshoots such as Mario Kart 3Ds and Mario 3DS will be shown, as well as some of Nintendo's well known other franchises. That means Metroid, Donkey Kong, and Kirby get some 3D love, and then we get to see a truly new Legend of Zelda 3DS title to go with our remake of Ocarina of Time.Sadly missing in action? A true 3D Pokemon game, the 3D Pokedex is a nice start but fans want an actual game to play. Hopefully one with interesting Pokemon again (we're looking at you Pokemon Black/White).
-3DS brings some big third party titles
We should see more on titles announced last year, like Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance and Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3DS. These should be joined by some other big announcements with a new Castlevania being revealed, continuing the stellar series started by the GBA and DS.
-Reggie Fils-Aime toots his own horn
Here's a goddamn guarantee. Nintendo of America's President, CEO, and spouter of numbers Reggie Fils-Aime will come out and talk about the total domination of the Wii and how mind blowing the new system will be. Then he will rattle off numbers of how much the Wii sold because its a cheap system and how the 3DS sold this and its evolutionary that. He will toot his and Mario's horn for a half hour and take subtle jabs at the makers of true next gen systems, while he hopes to actually join them next year. Yes, I can't argue that the Wii sells and their handhelds are like crack to people. Doesn't mean they're the greatest things on Earth. He's starting to sound like Molyneaux.
So there we are, some predictions for Nintendo. To be honest I think it will be a pretty boring part of E3, but I hope I can be proved wrong by Nintendo. If you have any wild predictions, post them in the comments below, and don't forget to check out our live blog of E3 tomorrow! Mandalore out!
