Nightshots From Lyon

By Gail Aguiar @ImageLegacy

Place Bellecour (Lyon, France)

Now that January is upon us, I’ll be the first to acknowledge that this month can be a tough one to get through, after all the festivity of December. Lots of darkness and cold days, although cold is a relative term. But don’t let your camera sit in a drawer this month! There are still good photo opportunities, even in winter. Here are a couple of night shots taken in Lyon last week, which was pretty chilly compared to Porto (at least 10C degrees lower by day, a bit less of a difference at night).

  • EXIF for top photo (handheld): f/2.8, 45.0mm, 1/30, ISO 800
  • EXIF for bottom photo (propped on wall with self-timer): f/10.0, 23.0mm, 1.3, ISO 160

It is worth noting that these photos did not come out of my camera looking like this — I run all low-light images through FIVE software programs, editing each individually. My workflow is detailed in this post.
