No.1. The Long Good Friday Nominated by LW guide Laurence, who simply states:
"For my money Long Good Friday is right up there!"
Fair enough. This gritty London gangster classic was released in 1980 and stars Bob Hoskins and plain old Helen Mirren before she was a Dame. Here's the trailer – with a warning: it is extremely violent.
I think it's fair to say that Visit London won't be using it in their P.R presentation this summer.
Watch out for a young Pierce Brosnan making his big screen debut. And look at London! The pre-redevelopment Docklands footage is fascinating.
