New Painting on Paper Becomes Impressionist Floral

By Abstractartbylt @artbylt

Continuing to paint on a watercolor block, I began with bold, bright colors:  reds, lavender, light magenta and yellow.  I painted the background in partchment, then blended other colors into it.  A combination of small and medium brustrokes helped create the impressionist effect.

For shading and contrast, I brushed in spots of prussian blue and burnt umber.  My last step was to draw circular lines with cadmium red deep.

Looked at up close, this painting appears chaotic, but as you step back, it comes into focus as an impressionist floral.
