New Book: The Magicatory

By Kidfreeliving @kidfreeliving

Last November I stumbled on a dot-matrix print out of a novel I wrote in ninth grade. I thought it would be fun to clean it up, re-name the characters after my young nieces, and publish a middle-school novel.  Shouldn’t take me more than a month, right? Just scan it in, edit… Viola! New book!

Riiight. What is it now… MARCH?? Turns out I didn’t exactly do my best work in ninth grade. The farther I got into editing, the more I was like “Whaaa?” So I ended up writing the whole thing over from scratch with all new plot lines and characters.
But now it is done!

If you have a tween, a teen or liked Harry Potter, I’d love to jump start reviews on Amazon!

The Magicatory: A fantastical adventure! Running out of fantasy books to buy your voracious little reader? Here you go!

  • Genre: Middle school/Children’s chapter book
  • Age: From 4th Grade advanced-reader to “I loved Harry Potter” adult!
  • Available on Amazon Kindle and Paperback  (they haven’t connected on Amazon yet).
  • Free with Kindle Unlimited

It’s got:

  • Pegacorns!
  • Wizards/Mages!
  • Kid’s with magical powers!
  • Dragons!
  • Zombies!
  • Adventure!
  • Parallel Universes!
  • A smart aleck narrator who may just be myself!
  • Mythology!
  • Both clever humor and terrible kid jokes!

Sorry about all the exclamation points. I sort of had to put one after pegacorns and then I just lost control.

Here’s the description:

Brian, Anna, Marc and Cecily stumble into a wizard’s spell and are swept to the Magicatory, the magical factory / laboratory where everything is made. Too bad they picked a lousy time to visit! A mysterious girl and a horde of goblins is planning an attack, one of the shape-shifting mages has been kidnapped, and a crazed dodo bird is on the loose. Now the lost siblings have to figure out how to use their new superpowers before the multiverse is destroyed and they can never return to Earth!

In other news… I’m 12 chapters into the new Pineapple Port novel: Pineapple Puzzles and I am having a great time. This one is practically writing itself. Lots of fun stuff on the way!!
