LET ME SET THE SCENE

Necessity is the Mother of Invention and Big Brother IS a Necessity

My best friend lives in NYC and unfortunately she is a Time Warner Cable customer and is currently living without BIG BROTHER. Sure I could have filled her in or on the BB last night, or, she could have just read the recaps online this morning, but it's just NOT the same as watching LIVE. So last night, this is how she was able to watch the show. It was the first time we both have ever used Facetime on our Iphones. I plugged my Iphone into my laptop to insure it wouldn't die, we propped up the Iphone on my kitchen stool for height, and then leaned it up against my Vitamin D bottle (I don't get enough sun apparently) and turned the volume on the TV up a little louder than usual. (My husband says I always have the volume too loud as it is).  My friend watched the entire episode in real time on her Iphone, in her apartment in NYC. How's that for some plain old fashion ingenuity?  I gotta say, it was nice to have her company during the show. She's covered for Sunday, but if TWC and CBS don't make up soon, we'll just continue to Facetime the show until they do.  Great idea right? Who needs Aereo? All you need is a good friend and a couple of smartphones! CBS and TWC could learn a lesson from us.  Where there's a will...there's a way.
BIG BROTHER DOUBLE EVICTION THURSDAY
So here's what happened while we watched the show:
  • Julie had on black jeans and a red shirt and looked pretty good. Not sure how I felt about her extra long extensions, but overall, my fave outfit of the season.
  • Expect the unexpected...again...this season, 9 JURY members instead of 7
  • Amanda tried to play nice with Jessie, but whatever Amanda thought she was selling...Jessie wasn't buying.
  • I didn't know that Amanda, Judd, McCrae and Andy were called The Goof Troop, did you?
  • I did think The Goof Troop was smart to tell Amanda, that in general, she needs to lay low, stop the outbursts and net/net, SHUT THE F UP!
  • Candice had a good rationale as to why she should stay, I really thought there was a possibility.
  • Jessie is right to try and get Amanda out, and I really was rooting for someone to make a big move.
  • Wasn't the Judd/Jessie kiss/hug combo super awkward and sort of gross?
  • This episode was the first time I noticed how tiny Andy's mouth is,  I guess his GIANT ears have distracted me all these weeks.
  • Andy has huge ears, a tiny mouth, crazy shirts and the wrong body for a tank top and yet, I still think he's sort of cute...in an odd way.
  • I guess Candice knew she was going home and wanted to really give it to Gina Marie during her speech.  Nothing like a crazy catfight before people are voting to kick you out of the house.  However, I did learn something during her speech. GM's 33 years old and living at home with her mom.  I hope Nick's reading my blog...RUN NICK...RUN!
  • FIRST EVICTED HOUSEGUEST: BUMMED IT'S CANDICE and nobody had any balls to make a big move and get Amanda out while they could have.
  • It'll sure be fun to have Candice go at GM at the reunion now that she's a member of the jury.
  • Candice did come across very classy and articulate when she spoke with Julie, especially about the racism.
  • We all found out. MVP is over! I'm happy about that actually.
  • Super speed round on the second eviction, Aaryn, the other racist, won the HOH and only had the commercial break to strategize.  She put up Jessie & Spencer and then won the POV
  • I gotta admit I WAS surprised that she backdoored Judd. I really was.
  • Everyone was crying while voting for Judd and everyone was crying as he left. He was surprised and sent to the jury house with Candice. I'll miss the bear shirt. He took it with him.
  • No HOH competition before the credits rolled.  Crazy but enjoyable night.
  • Said goodnight to my BFF and put the kitchen chair and plugged in all my devices.
HOLLYWOOD GAME NIGHT Team 1-Nick Cannon (with hanky), Will Sasso (without), Niecy Nash and some chick in a yellow dress. They lost.  Team 2-Jason Alexander (with hair), Al Roker (without hair), Josh Gad & some guy named David. They won. I beat both teams...OF COURSE.

NEWS & INFORMATION:
-A company called Pixability put out some interesting facts about the Top 100 Global Brands. Here's what I learned:

  • Only 1 of the Top 100 Global Brands has a presence on YouTube
  • The other 99 have racked up 9.5 billion views of more than 285,000 videos on more than 2200 channels
  • Fewer than half the brands posted gained 1000 views or more
  • 1300 of the videos topped 1 million views
  • 37% of brand channels haven't been updated with new content in more than 4 months and many channels were actually inactive
  • Top brands post 78 new videos a month,
  • Top media companies post 500 videos a month.
  • Top brands that integrate videos with social media had 89 times more tweets and 330 times more Facebook activity than those that didn't.  I guess if you're reading this, you should start producing more video content, keep it fresh and keep um coming.
-Viggle update: In it's first 15 months, Viggle users had spent over 200 million hours watching TV and redeemed 1,824,043 rewards with a retail value of 13 million bucks! They've also made 10 million in revenue. I love Viggle. I've redeemed 4 movie tickets and 4 Itunes cards so far! Sort of lame, but now I'm saving my points for the Viggle T-Shirt.  Friday's Trivia Question: Who won So You Think You Can Dance in 2012?
