National Sandwich Month from Dinner Through Dessert

By Creativeculinary @CreativCulinary

There is a calendar somewhere that lists all of the food events and while I'm never sure who makes those determinations, I sort of love celebrating the things we have come to take from granted. Like sandwiches. The most dependable way to get lunch in a hurry and sometimes overlooked as a great choice for dinner; doesn't everyone love sandwiches? So won't you join me in celebrating National Sandwich Month and honor all things sandwich?

For a little sandwich history, one John Montague, known also as the Earl of Sandwich started the trend. He liked to enjoy a piece of meat placed between two bread slices and the men at London's Beef Steak Club started to follow suit, ordering the 'same as Sandwich' and the rest, as they say, is history.

Join us to celebrate the sandwich...from main course to dessert; from salads to grilled...we've got a great selection for you to choose from. Bet you can't pick just one!

I've included one of my favorites in this roundup, a recipe gleaned years ago from the iconic Marshall Field's Department Store in Chicago, Illinois. The store maybe gone but let's celebrate that the sandwich is here to stay. Roasted chicken is combined with dried cranberries and nuts in a mayo and sour cream dressing and it's all topped with crisp bacon. Once I started putting fruit into my chicken salad; nothing else compared!
