National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week

By Joysautismblog @joysautismblog

Did you know this week is National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week, it’s actually from May 1st to May 7th but I just learned about this today and I wanted to share. This is just a really important topic for all parents and families to learn about. Pervasive Developmental Disorders are included in the most common mental illnesses in children.

Check out Children’s Mental Health Coalition

So what are the most common mental illnesses in children?

Anxiety Disorders

Attention Deficit Hyper Activity Disorder (ADHD)

Disruptive Behavior Disorders

Pervasive Development Disorders

Eating Disorders

Elimination Disorders

Learning and Communication Disorders

Mood Disorders

Tic Disorders

I hope that this information can be helpful and that we can all gain some awareness for families dealing with mental health issues in their children. Green is the color chosen to represent the Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week because green signifies new life, new growth, and new beginnings so get out your green and support National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week!
