natalie-cole-gettyWith it being the first day of the new year no one wants to hear sad news of a passing.  The Music industry has lost an amazing voice today.  Natalie Cole, the daughter of Nat King Cole, passed away last night due to complication from health issues that have been going on for a while.

She was able to make her own name in the industry.  Natalie has won nine Grammy Awards, released numerous albums with having one of them went platinum in one year, getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Of course with the rise of fame her personal life wasn’t always the best.  Her first marriage to follow artist Marvin Yancy did give her a son but also introduced the singer to Cocaine.  Cole did have this to say about that:

“I don’t know what I was thinking,” Cole wrote of the divorce. “I lost sight of how happy I was in the beginning. [The divorce] was the biggest mistake of my life… My career was starting to show signs of wear and tear. And so was I.””

in 1982 she did go into rehab and after that she seemed to be picking up her life and getting back on track with her music career.  Then in 2008 it was released that the singer had Hepatitis C from her years of using drugs.  Following that year she then underwent a kidney transplant.

She had an amazing life but dead way to young.  We hear at Catch My Ear is keeping her family in our thoughts during this time.

Please share with us your best memories from Natalie Cole.
