The interview series #myRTW coincides with our hash-tag of the same name which is featured on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. Our aim with the series is simple: to show off the world's amazing destinations that long-term travelers have enjoyed on the road!
In each entry of this series, participating RTW travelers highlight one experience or destination they consider a favorite from their trip and share what they loved about it.
Today's #myRTW interview features Robson and Natalie from Love and Road. Their long-term trip began in April 2014 and has no end date in sight. For them, their favorite experience thus far has been Cappadocia, Turkey, where they visited in October 2014.
In their own words, Robson and Natalie talks about the experience...
An Unforgettable Experience in Cappadocia
"Our journey started on April 2014 and since then we hit several countries. There is one that have a special place in our heart. It was our fourth visit to Turkey and this time we stayed almost 3 months. Istanbul for sure is one of our favourites cities in the world but this time the Turkish countryside enchanted us.
A balloon flight over Cappadocia was in our bucket list for years and we finally crossed it off. It was an incredible experience, the freedom, the peace, the silence... absolutely amazing.
We were in Cappadocia during Autumn, the temperature was quite low but the different tons of yellow, orange and brown from the tree leaves make it up for the cold.
The highlight of our first visit to the Turkish countryside happened on a day we left our cave hotel about 11 am, packed with water, biscuits and fruits and head to the Love Valley. A stray dog followed us, we named him Mustaffa. I was worried if he could cope with the trails, turns out that he was leading us.
Cold and Colorful
So there we were, in the middle of the valley with our new friend and enjoying one of the most beautiful landscapes we ever seen. We were fulfilled by an inner peace, a sensation of accomplishment. All the doubts regarding our choice to leave everything behind to travel were gone.
During our 11 km trekking we shared our water and food with Mustaffa, but as soon we got back to the city he left us, didn't even bothered to say a goodbye. But that´s ok, the memories of that days and our fast friendship will stay forever in our hearts.
Can't wait to return to Turkey and explore more and more this beautiful country!"
