It's been a while since I have worn this skirt. I just haven't been feeling it, and even considered selling it because it just feels too cutesy and matronly. I realized I was trying too hard with it - pairing it with stripes, wearing my Xl H&M belt with it as a cummerbund... just didn't feel like me. While cleaning up my closet last night, I found this top which I pulled out of the attic. Unlike my other wrap tops from pre-Emerson that I sold, I kept this one because it still fits nicely. The thing is, I don't really like the look of wrap tops on me now - too much fabric below the waist for my taste. So this top is wrapped, but instead of tying the ties in front, I have them crossed and safety pinned to the bottom half of the dress. This gave it a smooth look with the skirt, while keeping it properly wrapped (I also had to loop the ties and safety pin them up because they're so long they were hanging down. Hope I don't fall down or have my skirt fly up or I'll have some explaining to do for my straightjacket-looking contraption under my skirt!).
This combo feels more me... less of a costume, not so cutesy. I could see myself wearing this again.
