Last evening I went on YouTube to watch one music video that was 5 minutes and 46 seconds long. The video was a compilation of the best 90s pop songs…I’m not afraid to admit it. Cut to 2 hours later and where is Kari? Oh, still watching 90s pop videos! Damn you YouTube…damn you.
All of that pop culture got me thinking…what is with some of these music videos? They are shot in such awkward/weird/strange locations. I thought I would share with you my research into this topic thus far.
Backstreet Boys – ‘I Want It That Way’

This music video starts off at the airport…huh? Did BSB just get back from a performance or are they en route to see Mary Hart from “Entertainment Tonight?” We don’t know! They have no luggage, just the clothes on their backs…and their birthday suits!
Not only do the boys sing and dance in the airport, they also perform outside of the airport. This is where we see how much money they have because their very own BSB plane is in the background. Way to rub salt in the wound boys!
If I saw the Backstreet Boys performing at the airport, I probably would take notice and keep it moving. I wouldn’t be in the right frame of mind to head over and attack Kevin. Why you ask? Since an airport is involved, I’m typically experiencing a blackout rage while at this facility. I’m either running late, thinking about all the stuff I forgot to pack or someone has held up the security line because they didn’t take off their shoes! As you can probably tell, I’m slipping into a blackout just thinking about it.
Maybe that’s why BSB chose this location. They knew their adoring fans wouldn’t be in attack mode and/or be equipped to stalk/sexually harass them.
There is one thing I do like about this song/video…they finally gave Kevin and his eyebrows a moment to shine and sing “Now I can see that we’re falling apart/From the way that it used to be, yeah/No matter the distance/I want you to know/That deep down inside of me…”
Deep down inside of you what?!
