#music Tramlines Festival - Day One

I think I have been sun burnt every year at Tramlines, the sun always seems to make an appearance at the Sheffield festival and this weekend looks no different! It has been pushing late twenties all week and as the three day festival kicked off on Friday evening the heat was still there.

First stop was the Fat Cat at Kelham Island for something that has become tradition for Tramlines. The festival represents the Steel City's eclectic best bits and ukulele six piece Everly Pregnant Brothers couldn't be more Sheffield if they tried, their reputation has grown and grown each year at the festival. Last years set on the Fat Cat roof attracted 5000 people, all singing-a-long, how could they top that?

Well, this time they had a stage! Due on at 7, the car park was filling up. By the time they actually arrived, about twenty past, the place was packed, so were the balconies of the flats opposite, the bridge and the river banks, an estimated 6000 people turned up to see these local blokes give their twist on covers that range from a more 'common' version of Pulp's Common People to Blur's Parklife becoming Pork Pie. The band had the crowd in a buoyant mood who didn't need much encourage to join in through out the set which lasted almost two and half hours! It felt triumphant as the band continually came across humbled by their adoring and loyal fan base. A great way to begin the weekend from a band who are unique and entertaining.
