Movie Review: The Raven
The Raven (2012)
Starring: John Cusack, Alice Eve, Brenden Gleeson and Luke EvansSummary: Set in 1849, it is a fictionalized account of the last days of Edgar Allan Poe's life, in which the poet and author pursues a serial killer whose murders mirror those in Poe's stories.I Give This Movie An: A-

My Thoughts: One day I casually clicked over to Netflix, I'd heard about this movie a while ago and I REALLY wanted to see it. And seeing the trailer got me hooked, I mean I love this time period and the acting in it. I really do love this kind of movie. And first off let me say, this movie was very, very action-y, which I never really like, but I really liked this movie. I tried to watch this movie while I was doing my homework and I  was hooked, I had to watch it. And I really do love who-dunnit, mysterious, mystery (for lack of a better word). It made me want to watch more movies like this and although I didn't find any on Netflix, I tried Limitless, didn't work for me. And so there are these murders based off of Edgar Allen Poe's stories and this officer and Poe are off to find the murderer. Also, its not that kind of you can guess who the killer is like clue, neither is it the kind of movie where its absolutely, OMG, OMG WHO'S THE KILLER, kind of thing. It's just those two putting the pieces together to find the killer. The acting was on point, it was amazing and it made you really feel as if its in that time period and I really loved John Cusack as Poe, his feel and his acting was Poe. It made me feel as if that's how he really acted, but I don't really know how he acted. I like his poetry, but I'm not a historian or anything. Alice Eve was good as well, it was a fabulous surprise  becuase I'd seen her in a comedy a while ago and that's it and now she's in this. It was very Sherlock Holmes-esque. And the paced was fantastic. I was entertained the whole time. It was a ride. The writer's basing some of the movie off of Poe's weird death was interesting, it made me want to look into it more, which I did. So let me know what you thought about it.Byyeeeee.
