Mother’s Day Treats for the Whole Family

By Momatlast @momatlast

Most moms agree — Mother’s Day isn’t about getting lavish gifts. Rather, it’s a time to savor spending time with your children and other loved ones. Make the moms in your life feel extra special this Mother’s Day by feting them for the entire weekend, instead of sharing a single meal or an afternoon visit. Here are a few ways you can make this Mother’s Day the most special one yet:

Camping

What better way is there to spend quality time with your family than camping in the wilderness, basking in nature’s beauty. Opt for a destination that’s deep in the woods, one where cell phone service is nonexistent so you can easily tune out and enjoy a weekend of togetherness without the distractions of email or texting. Opt for a private campsite, away from other campers if possible. Bring plenty of food and beverages and have a cook off to test your culinary skills with limited resources. Let mom be the judge (after all, this is her day). Make sure her wine stays cool with the Mommy’s Sippy Cup (TM). Pack a few games to keep the kids entertained and plan daily activities like nearby hikes or scavenger hunts.

Special Deliveries

While a single delivery of flowers is a traditional Mother’s Day gift, you can make it even more special by have a few different gifts delivered throughout the weekend for the whole family to enjoy. Start with flower arrangements by FTD to breathe some life into your home decor. Have them delivered on Friday afternoon to lend a bright and cheery air to your Mother’s Day weekend. Order a tin of gourmet cookies from Cheryl & Co. for delivery on Saturday. Opt for an assortment of cookies to ensure a special treat for the whole family. On Sunday, arrange for lunch to be delivered from Mom’s favorite restaurant. If the restaurant doesn’t offer delivery, order everything to go, pick it up and surprise her with a lunch spread of her favorite foods.

Picnic in the Park

For those on a tight budget, a simpler way to celebrate is with a family picnic in a nearby park. Take care of organizing everything so that all mom has to do is show up. Have each family member prepare a part of the meal. Little ones can pack up carrot sticks and hummus or their favorite snack. Older kids can get to work on a simple recipe, like salad or quiche, that can be served cold or at room temperature.
