La sua architettura che richiama i tempi medievali, mi mette un senso di pace ogni volta che lo visito.
Tutti questi borghi sonnecchiosi sulle colline della Toscana sono luoghi di relax dove il vivere è un piacere.
One of the villages is Montepulciano.
It was the land of the Etruscan civilization as all the surrounding area.
Its architecture is reminiscent of the medieval times and it gives me a sense of peace every time I have visited it.

Il paese è circondato da vigneti che in autunno assumono colori incredibili e producono il di Montepulciano ( da assaggiare accompagnato da una saporita salsiccia alla griglia con patate prezzemolate).

Non dimenticate Palazzo Bucelli : ha nelle sue fondamenta dei ritrovamenti etruschi raccolti dal proprietario del palazzo.

Vi suggerisco di vedere la Torre dell'orologio: il suo colore chiaro dei mattoni e la statua di Pulcinella sulla sommità sono molto piacevoli da vedere.
Per gli amanti della letteratura qui nacque il poeta umanista Angelo Poliziano che visse nel XV secolo e ruotò intorno alla Corte di Lorenzo il Magnifico, conosciuto come grande mecenate degli artisti di quel periodo.
I suggest you to see the clock tower - its light color of the bricks and the statue of Pulcinella on top are very nice to see.
For the lovers of the literature the humanist poet Angelo Poliziano was born here.
He lived in the XV century and he frequented the Court of Lorenzo the Magnificent- known as a great patron of artists of that age.
Tutto il paese è veramente grazioso e sembra, visitandolo, di fare un tuffo nel passato medievale: passeggiando incontrerete il Pozzo dei Grifi e dei Leoni che riporta nella parte alta lo stemma della famiglia De Medici.
I leoni dovrebbero rappresentare la repubblica di Firenze e le due sfingi l'intelligenza e l'intelletto (iconograficamente è una sfinge differente dall'arte egiziana, ed è su due zampe invece che stesa).
Troverete anche la fortezza, ovviamente posizionata in un punto strategico da cui si potessero osservare i movimenti dei dintorni.
Oggi questa struttura è adibita a spazio espositivo.
The whole village is really beautiful and when you are visiting it , you seem to take a dip in the medieval past.Walking around the streets, you will meet the Well of the Griffins and Lions. It shows the coat of arms of the Medici family at the top .
The lions are supposed to represent the Republic of Florence and the two sphinxes represent the intelligence and the intellect (iconographically are different sphinxs from the art Egyptian, and they are on two legs instead of lying).You will find in Montepulciano the fortress town, obviously located in a strategic point from which they could observe the movements of the surroundings.
Nowadays it is used as an exhibition space.
Prima di lasciare Motepulciano vi suggerisco una visita al Museo civico che contiene grandi opere d'arte , una sezione poliziana e reperti romani ed etruschi di notevole interesse.
Before leaving Motepulciano I suggest you to visit the Museum Civico, which contains some great art works: a section dedicated to Poliziano and one more section with Roman and Etruscan very interesting finds.
Appena fuori Motepulciano si trova il tempio di San Biagio, architettura di grande rilievo artistico che risale al XVI secolo: la struttura architettonica con una cupola centrale poggiata su una terrazza fu motivi di ispirazione per molti altri architetti toscani del periodo. In tutto questo non si può saltare una buona mangiata: il vino, come vi anticipavo è splendido e potete anche assaggiare i pici ( questa pasta di farina e acqua lavorata mano). Se la fame è tanta potete chiedere anche una buona ribollita che è una specie di una zuppa anche con pane tipica della tradizione culinaria toscana: forse meglio evitarla in estate, ma vivamente consigliata in inverno e autunno. Volete perdervi la bruschetta? No non si può.
In Montepulciano you can't miss a good meal.
The wine - as I have told you - is very good and you can also taste the pici (this pasta- made by flour and water- is home- made).
If your hunger is very big, you can ask a good ribollita which is a kind of soup with bread, typical of the Tuscan culinary tradition. Perhaps you should to avoid it in summer, but strongly recommended in winter and autumn. Do you want to miss the bruschetta? No, you can't.
Insomma arte, cucina e relax: questi gli ingredienti di questo luogo immerso nelle colline toscane. Perché non provare?
