Mistakes to Avoid When Planning Your Wedding

By Weddingblog2011

While it might seem negative to examine the wedding blunders of other couples, the cold, hard truth is that the best way to learn what not to do at your wedding is to learn from the mistakes of others. Here are some of the most common wedding planning mistakes and how you can avoid them.

While there are many mistakes to avoid when planning your wedding, there are some that occur more commonly than others. They are the mistakes that can be learned from; mistakes that you can avoid, simply by learning from those who have made the very same wedding planning blunders before you. Avoiding them, of course, means a more pleasant wedding planning experience and a smoother wedding day.

Don’t be a Procrastinator

Too many couples have underestimated the sheer magnitude of wedding planning, and as a result, have waited until just months before their wedding date to start planning. This, of course, leads to a lot of undue stress and worry, all within months of your big day! While you definitely want to take some time to enjoy being engaged, the whole point of being engaged is to work toward getting married, right? As such, planning your wedding at the last minute is one of the biggest mistakes to avoid when planning your wedding.

Set Time Aside

One of the best ways to stay on track and avoid problems planning your wedding (i.e. procrastination) is to set aside a time each week to plan. A few blocks of planning time per week should suffice. You might find that you need more time as your wedding day approaches. This time should also be something that the two of you do together. This will help you be more efficient in your wedding planning tasks and will help you avoid any confusion.

Get Organized

This might seem like a no brainer, but you’d be surprised to learn just how many couples have missed the mark on this one. Not being organized can lead to confusion, forgotten appointments and dates, and much more. Keep it fairly simple by using notebooks and calendars, but make the process efficient. Bad organization is one of those big mistakes to avoid when planning your wedding and it can be easily prevented.
