Mirta Aka Da Mirta in Milan: About as Good as Slow Food Can Get for a "fool" Who Ordered So Much According to the Waitresss.

By Johntalbott

Mirta or Da Mirta in Milan is one of the few Slow Food places here for mysterious reasons.  I went promptly at 12 noon and 4 people were already waiting for it to open, and by the time I left people were standing waiting to be seated.

The menu at night is much more than that at lunch as you will see.  Fewer choices but wonderful ones.

I started with a platter of charcuterie the likes of which I haven't had in years; then moved on to a spicy al dente spaghetti with veggies (like celery, carrots and kale) and meat the likes of which I haven't had in years.

By this point I was stuffed and satisfied like I haven't been in years but I had ordered tongue by golly and I was going to eat at least half of it.  This was not your New York or Ribouldingue stuff, this was supremely tasty.  Oh and by the way, the bread was terrific.

My bill with a half-liter of red (that's it; red and  white by the carafe), 3 courses and a corrected coffee, was 28 E - yes you read that correctly.  Prix-qualite prix of the year.
