Steve Lyla wants nothing more than to grant his elderly father's dying wish, to find his sister's killer. Is 50-something, student-sleuth Ronnie Lake ready to take on a cold case more than forty years in the making? As a divorced, downsized empty-nester, Ronnie must follow the trail of undiscovered clues in this short story to get inside the mind of a killer.

Review

This is one's a really short read. I love that it didn't beat on the bush and gave us suspense as early as the first chapter. Well, what do you expect, this is a short story after all haha.

But seriously, I love that I instantly got hooked with this story and was curious what's the case Ronnie is going to take this time. Oh, by the way, Ronnie was the heroine from the previous book that I've read, Searching for Gatsby. And back then, I'm already eyeing her character because she's the most badass 50 year old character I've ever read.

This one comes first since it happened before she got her PI license and is working some sidelines with her friend Will. Unlike the searching for Gatsby, I don't feel any romantic vibe between Will and Ronnie. I know Will was concerned with Ronnie but that's just it, no romance at all. I always love a good suspense story with a touch of romance, but well, this book, Delilah isn't that bad at all.

It was mysterious and kind of hard to solve the case since it happened more than 40 years ago so I'm curious what will Ronnie gonna do about it. And there's obviously no long waiting involved since the culprit was introduced so fast. The police worked so hard on finding the suspect but still failed so it was quite a surprise that a newbie like her was able to do that fast, and take note, Will didn't do any helping at all, aside ofcourse from helping on apprehending the culprit. I knew it's going be a crime of passion but it was surprising how the title of this story just summarizes the crime though.

This one's a pretty good book to read if you only have a little time and is looking for a little mystery and suspense to company you. Don't worry, you can still enjoy this one without reading the other two books in the Ronnie Lake Murder Mystery series.
