Millions of footy fans are prepared to miss surgery, their best friend's wedding - and even their own wedding anniversary, if England reach the final of Euro 2016.

More than four in 10 people are prepared to risk key friendships and the wrath of their other half by choosing the historic occasion over marriage celebrations.

And a fifth said they will be postponing SURGICAL procedures in favour of footy.

Incredibly, one in 20 people would even be prepared to miss the birth of their child.

While 43 per cent of men are also more than happy to pull a sickie if our boys go all the way to the epic showdown on July 10.

A spokesman for Ladbrokes which conducted the study of 2,000 adults, said: "Support for England has never been higher, as the lengths people will go to for a chance to see them in the final shows.

"We're currently offering odds of 11/1 for England to go all the way - and if they do win it, odds of 12/1 on a Roy Hodgson knighthood!"

The study shows football takes precedence over medical appointments such as the dentist or doctor for 40 per cent of Brits.

The mother-in-law certainly doesn't get a look in for 30 per cent of people who are more than happy to forget her birthday in favour of watching the final.

But even the children will suffer if England go all the way - incredibly a fifth of parents would happily miss a school parent's evening, while six per cent would skip their child's graduation.

One in 10 children won't even get to celebrate their birthday with their parents - as they'll be sat around the TV watching the game.

Thirteen per cent of those polled would risk missing out on their dream job by skipping an interview so they can watch the final.

While seven per cent would happily postpone or lose out on a holiday altogether if England make it to the finals in July.

Other key events which are deemed less important than supporting England include attending a driving test, moving house and taking an important exam.

For those willing to skip surgery, cardiac operations, tooth removals and tonsils taken out are all procedures people are happy to miss.

Two thirds of people think a win for England would be good for the country as a whole, and an overwhelming 71 per cent of people feel patriotic at this current moment in time.

And if England do go all the way - and WIN - a third of those surveyed reckon Roy Hodgson will deserve a knighthood.

The Ladbrokes spokesman continues: "'Given the confidence in England going all the way it comes as no surprise to hear what fans are prepared to miss out on if England made the final."
