Middle of the Week Update

By Crossstitchyourheart @TMNienaber

I’m very excited to write this post because I have actually stayed on track and finished up the last full page of sky!  Only six more columns to go and I can move on to flowers and the leo-lioness.

It actually looks like a picture now!  You can see how it’s shaded from dark to light and back again which gives it the same look as a summer night sky (without any street lights).  The even more exciting part is that on the last half page of the sky pattern I actually get to start the first sunflower.  I know you’re just as excited as I am.

I also have those two crochet squares I promised you.

Square One actually turned out better than I expected it to as my first attempt to follow a crochet pattern.  What I really like about the VOGUE Stitchionary is that it gives both written pattern instructions (like most crochet/knitting patterns) but also gives a graphic representation (which helps my xstitch pattern reading mind).

Square 2 didn’t turn out quite as well as I’d hoped.  The stitches I got down (kind of) but a combination of a hook that was a larger gauge than recommended (I probably need to get a better variety of crochet hooks) and a thicker yarn keeps it from really looking like the pattern.  (That and mine stitches aren’t quite as perfect…or in the right order…)

I feel like I finally have a real middle of the week update to show you (actually making crafting progress).  Let me know if any of you veteran crocheters have any tips or tricks for me.  All advice is welcomed!
