Messi in Race Storm and Bale to Barcelona

By Stizzard

One of the of hot topics today that is buzzing around and doing the rounds on the Internet is that Argentine wizard Leo Messi has been accused of racism by Everton player Royston Drenthe who is on loan from Real Madrid. Barca have obviously come and defended Leo over such accusations.

Drenthe is claiming that messi repeatedly called him “negro” during his time as a Real Madrid player in Spain. Drenthe, 25 and who is on loan to Everton from the Spanish league winners had this to say about the incident:

“I have played against Mess many times and we have always had some problems”.

He went on to say: “You know what bothers me about this? It’s the tone of voice he uses with which he always says, ‘negro, negro’.”

Messi has refused to comment on the incident but Barca officials were quick to act on his behalf stating:

“Lionel Messi has always shown maximum respect towards his rivals, something that is recognised by his fellow professionals. We are sure that any accusations to the contrary are well wide of the mark.”

The other piece of news that is going around is that Gareth Bale, according to Spanish TV channel Marca TV, has sealed a deal with Barca. Apparently Barca have offered the 22 year old Welsh wizard a deal where he will earn 5 million euros a year after tax. he could cost the Catalan giants 40 million euros which is well within Barca’s budget who are very keen on securing a player for their left back position in readiness for next season’s campaign.

This would be a challenge for Bale and i think he could do well at Barca and grow with the club. On the other hand is the fact that harry Redknap, Spurs’ manager, would be rather upset to see a player of Bale’s quality leave the North London club.
