K5 Autonomous Data Machine, is a surveillance robot that looks a lot like R2-D2 from Star Wars. And it basically works like R2-D2 too as it comes packed with a GPS locator, 360 degree HD vide o,Thermal imaging camera, Audio recording, Biological, chemical, and radiation detection and many more.

The K5 robot is being developed by Knightscope to put it to work at places like malls, schools and other common places to monitor and protect people by replacing human employees. According to NY Times, K5 is still in its’ early development stages. However, as soon as they are ready, the company hopes to send these robots to work charging about 6.25 an hour. The final model of this mobile robot will get wirelessly connected to a centralized data server, allowing it to “recognize faces, license plates and other suspicious anomalies.”

Just as with every other futuristic, robotic creation, the 5-feet-tall K5 robot’s features may be both valuable and annoying as well, including how it affects the work force in the country as it takes away the jobs from real people.

Knightscope is planning to unveil K5 Autonomous Data Machine in an event, tomorrow.
