Matches Made in Heaven, found on the Internet

Once it was said that matches are made in Heaven. But these days, internet seems to be playing quite a big hand in the matchmaking process as well. More and more often people are turning to online matrimonial websites like shaadi.com or jeevansaathi.com etc. to find their life partner. That, by the way, adds one more point to my belief – internet is heavenly, if not actually a heaven.

Before the online matrimonial websites, it was mainly relatives who acted as the matchmakers. If not that, then newspapers came to rescue (I’m not talking about the love marriages here, obviously.) But times are changing. People are now getting shorter and shorter on patience, tolerance, compromising and understanding capabilities. And as relations get shakier and shakier, relatives are finding it more advisable not to risk making a match that might end up being made in hell, and turn them into devil’s advocate in the eyes of the concerned parties. The newspapers don’t suffer from any such hesitation, but the information they provide is very limited. And I know for sure that finding matches through newspapers has actually started being frowned upon as low status and old fashioned by many.

And now, with the availability of even 100% Free Online Matrimonial websites, more and more people are seeking the internet’s help to find life partners for themselves or their children. My own sister (seen in the picture) found her prince charming through one such online matrimonial website, or rather, my parents found him for her

:)

The online matrimonial websites, thus, are having a great time of it. And here are the main reason’s why technology is winning even when it comes to matchmaking. Here’s why online matrimonial websites are getting so popular:

1. Abundance of choice

Your relatives can’t bring to you a choice of thousands of prospective grooms or brides. Your newspaper can’t do it either. Nor can your offline matrimonial services. They, at best, can show you pictures of a few hundred. But when it comes to internet, limits are non existent, almost. All you need is time, and the matrimonial websites spread before you profile upon profile of suitable personalities. Just set your search criteria, sit down comfortably and you are set to browse through thousands of profiles. And there’s no price for browsing!

2. More Information

Sure, your relatives can know the complete history of the match they bring. But information is one area where online matrimonial websites definitely score over newspapers. Here, you don’t just get a brief, twitter like info, but a whole detailed profile listing everything from the height, salary, dietery preferences to even the blood group. And they have photographs attached to them, which definitely gives them a big plus.

3. Convenient

One thing that internet ensures, in every field that it is used, is convenience of use. And finding brides or grooms through it is no different. All you need is a computer and an internet connection, and you are set to browse through thousands of matrimonial profiles, right from your home.

4. Affordability

The convenience doesn’t come expensive either. You can actually browse through the profile totally free of costs. Creation of profiles is free as well. But of course, in most of the websites, you need to pay to acquire access to vital information like contact details. However, 100% Free Matrimonial websites are there too and they work quite as well as the paid websites.

5. Totally Neutral

One place where online matrimonial websites win over suggestions by kindly friends and neighbours is by ensuring complete neutrality. They are not on anybody’s side. They have no inclination to hide anything, or exaggerate anything. Of course, people may lie about themselves in their profiles. And that’s where you need to be careful.

Caution while using online matrimonial websites

One big curse of internet is that it makes it too easy for people to hide their truth and realities and cover themselves under a cloak of deception. And that is where you have to be alert, prudent and judicious, whether you are reading mails, interacting on social networking websites or browsing matrimonial websites. Keep your eyes open, think before you do anything, and when it comes to fixing matches, make your own inquiries to find out the veracity of the claims being made.

And may the magic of internet bless you with a lifetime of happiness

:)
