Makeup Monday Makeup Bags and Best Eye Palettes

By Fitnspicy @fitnspicy

As someone who has way too much makeup I have attempted to organize my drawer. Eliminating single eye shadows (not my MAC or Bare Minerals, I love those too much) in favor of palettes. You get a variety of color options and they take up a lot less space! With one drawer to hold all my makeup and a big basket under the sink for my myriad of lip products I don’t have much more room… And that means I need to eliminate some of the old items, giveaway the colors that just don’t work for me and get my makeup down to a system. I keep a full makeup bag under the bathroom sink, have one for travel and one for my gym bag. It got to a point where things were being forgotten too often and it’s easier to just keep the makeup bag ready and packed in my gym bag or near my travel toiletry kit.

The three bags I use:

Under the sink I have my trusty Thirty-One bag that I have had for years. I LOVE this bag. And they just came out with a newer version. It’s lined with plastic and you can just wipe it down when it gets dirty.

My travel makeup bag is from the clearance bin at Target but I seriously love this thing. They still carry this in stores in other colors and it can be a makeup bag or purse organizer.  Here is a similar version sold in stores, the larger version is sold online. Lots of pockets and slots to organize brushes. I do wish it had plastic inside to wipe down. That would be my only complaint.

I had a great find at TJ Maxx recently for a Lug Cosmetic Case ($9.99 versus $27.99) and this is fully lined and even the bottom has plastic on it. Perfect for getting ready at the gym and yoga where there is always water or something messy on the counter.

After getting rid of the colors that were just old or just didn’t work for me, I finally found a few palettes that are perfect for everyday. As a fair skinned blonde with gray eyes, these work really well for me. Naked 2 and Revealed 2 seem to geared towards fair skin but NYX Wicked and A La Mode have shades for everyone. Looking for a great price for a palette? I highly recommend NYX. Great quality and Ulta often has them buy one get on 50% off and you can use coupons on them.

For that mid-range palette check out Coastal Scents. This was $34.99 on Birchbox and only $19.95 on their website, I did use points and got it for free. Woohoo! Major bonus that the Birchbox version comes with three brushes. They are pretty decent quality and I can always use more eyeshadow brushes.

And if you want the Cadillac of palettes, Urban Decay Naked. They have 3 versions and Naked 2 is best for my skin tone but the shades are beautiful and really great for everyday wear. I can honestly say that I use every single color in this palette and you have everything from shimmery to matte, from beige to black.
