Luminaris

By Told By Design @toldbydesign

Luminaris is “the story of a man living in a world controlled and timed by light. Every morning, the inhabitants of that world are woken up and pulled to their jobs by sunlight, as if this was some sort of magnet.”
Part of the story shows this man working in a factory where he magically turns glass marbles into electric light bulbs with his mouth, while his workmate lights them up when staring at them. Although the manufacturing of light bulbs is not like this at all, this “alternative method” also reflects the dehumanization of some actual industrial processes, and the dreams that workers in the chain may have on the objects they produce. A fantastic ode to illuminated imagination.

The short film was part of the Vitra Design Museum exhibition “Lightopia” (28.9.2013 – 9.3.2014)
