Love at First Lounge: The OSIM uLove 白马王子 Massage Chair Experience

Raise your hands if you often suffer from back and shoulder pains! I certainly do, and massages are one of those special pampering treats that I can never say no to! I was delighted to be invited by OSIM Singapore to preview their latest massage chair model, the much anticipated OSIM uLove. Hearing that this was a prized possession of my idol Chinese actress Fang Bing Bing, I was intrigued to see how this new addition to the massage chair series would fare.

Stepping into the clean sophisticated space that is the OSIM HQ, we were greeted by a beautiful romantic setting and the dreamy tunes of a grand harp. A beautiful dessert table laden with the a lovely selection of sweet delectables tantalized the tastebuds, and I sipped on one of the specially concocted cocktail from the mini bar while exploring the event…

So happy to see a favorite UK beauty brand of mine, Neal’s Yard! They were offering some character profiling to create a special essential oil blend, and after I was told that given my active lifestyle, I was given a heavenly mix of Lavandin and Bergamot. Absolute scent-sational bliss!

We headed to the Lifestyle area, where we came up close and personal with the OSIM uLove collection. Seriously as far as massage chairs go, the OSIM uLove is a luxurious, almost regal creation. Its name in mandarin is 白马王子, which literally means Prince Charming on a White Horse. 

And it isn’t hard to see why hearts were fluttering in that room: the OSIM uLove is available in 5 contemporary hues: Dreamy White, Handsome Brown, Charming Red, Dashing Copper and Gorgeous Teal Truly, it’s a kiss goodbye to the dowdy armchairs of yesteryear. I ran my fingers down its shiny chrome curvatures, down to its upholstered in quilted and modern weave inspired, buttery soft leatherette main body. I blushed…it almost felt intimate.

I pulled out the remote control which has ergonomically fitted within an arm rest: the uLove can actually save up to 4 of your favorite massage programmes to appear on the top of the programme list for quicker selection and easier navigation. It uses Intelligent Auto Shoulder Detection; which starts at every massage program to accurately assess your physical build to give you a comfortable fit to enjoy the full curative effects of the personalised massage. My fiancé Ben on the other hand, was especially thankful for its Extendible Foot Massager as he has much longer legs and regular run-of-mill massage chairs can’t actually fit him comfortably.Another thing that I really like  is its family-friends safety features in mind: where by the backrest and the footrest will stop moving the moment it detects any obstruction underneath it. I got to experience it first hand when one of the friends attending actually backed into the seat when I was trying it out; the backrest actually stopped instantaneously, albeit in a smooth manner. A very thoughtful feature, especially if you have limited space at home or if you have young children.But what better way to tell than to personally experience the magic that is the OSIM uLove?
We were packed into a darkened Experience Zone, where each attendee snuggled comfortably into a uLove massage chair, with the relaxing ambience further enhanced by the relaxing scent of Neal’s Yard room fragrance.


How does one even begin to describe the Osim uLove? I’d best say that it’s pure symphony in motion; it begins with my body being cradled comfortably in a 45 degree angle which almost feels like you’ve become weightless and floating. Soft, calming instrumental music tinkled from the chamber speakers of Immersive Audio System, a thoughtful feature of the OSIM uLove so that one can enjoy a full holistic state of relaxation.

The series of massage began with gentle kneading on the general area, before slowly building up in speed and intensity. The OSIM uLove features V-Hand 3D Massage with 720^o Roller Balls, which actually emulates the hand-grip of a professional masseuse. I can personally attest to its very realistic massage grip, because it really helped to loosen that long-standing tight painful knots I have on my left shoulder. No problem areas are too big for the 720^o Roller Balls, which boasts 360 degrees rollability in both horizontal and vertical directions to effectively reach each body contours, thanks to its 7 levels of 3D selection at the shoulders, lumbar and butt. As I feel my body unfurl in relaxation, the Osim uLove work its way down to the rest of my body. I  could feel the extended massage track focusing more on my pain points at the back of my neck and just above the bum. No doubt the unhealthy culmination of many long nights poring over my laptop, the OSIM uLove’s signature Neck & Butt Massage Program strategically targets my aching neck/ nape, then down to the buttock areas; which I soon felt the pain melt away and my muscles relaxed. You actually don’t realize how stiff the body is from all those prolonged sitting until you’ve slid into the OSIM uLove.  Our 30 minute love affair ended far too soon, and I was reluctant to leave the OSIM uLove’s loving embrace.
