Looking for a Korean Hairstylist in Singapore? Try Kevin Gim of Dusol Beauty, Novena Square 2

By Beautifulbuns

Ok, this is a rather overdue post – I often get questions asking me about decent Korean hairstylists in Singapore (since not everyone is as insane as me as to jet off to Korea every 3-4 months just to get my hair done with my favorite Jei at Sinchon). Here’s one Korean hairstylist that seems relatively decent, and not that overpriced. I had a hair treatment done with Kevin Gim of Dusol Beauty on the 3rd floor of Novena Square 2 (located just above Novena MRT station). Note that they have another branch at City Hall MRT, Raffles City Shopping Centre as well.

The price list: Not too overly extravagant to be honest. For my hair length, a hair dye session would only cost SGD$160+, which is pretty decent.

And let the prettifying begin! Getting my hair washed, and then prepped for the hair treatment

Yes yes, alien head is me – steaming the hair follicles I would suppose, followed by the drying and snipping.

And tadah – the finished product! Note that the hair was silky, smooth and lustrous for a couple of weeks after, which I’m happy with. I noticed similarities in the way he did the treatment for me to the times I did it in Korea – so yes, legit Korean hair services available here.

And with Kevin Gim himself – his English is rather decent, so you will have no communication issues with him. He gave relatively good advice to my friend regarding her sudden impulse decision to cut bangs (“no, you’ll look older and your face will look broader”). He also did a rather okay job with my fringe (but then again, I have a super hard-to-manage finicky fringe that only Jei seems to be able to control). He did listen to my instructions (nagging) pretty well and avoided giving the body of my hair too many layers. Overall, a rather decent hairstylist if you’re looking for an affordable Korean hairstylist to head to.
