Hello Freckles Longhorns BBQ Smokehouse Newcastle Food Review Longhorns has been one of those places I've wanted to visit for a while now and after finally visiting, can I say it was worth the wait? Well... I'll let you know at the end of this post.Hello Freckles Longhorns BBQ Smokehouse Newcastle Food MeatHello Freckles Longhorns BBQ Smokehouse Newcastle FoodLonghorns BBQ Smokehouse is on Mosley Street in Newcastle, just a short walk from Northumberland Street and conveniently located if you want to make the most of the free parking from 5pm on weekdays - just wander up from Dean Street multi-storey.

They don't do reservations, it's a walk in and wait at the bar kinda deal. When we visited on a weeknight we had to wait around 20 minutes for a table to be free, but I knew it could be the case and honestly, it didn't bother me. It's a small venue with limited space, but the turnover is pretty quick. Surely whoever you go with can hold a conversation for 15/20 minutes while you wait!

A second Longhorns BBQ Smokehouse has just opened in Jesmond, in a location 3 times the size, which could give the Newcastle one time to breathe. Though, this being said, they did (just a few days after we visited) start serving a breakfast menu, which will surely only increase popularity! It looks like a really good breakfast menu too, so I'm sure I'll be popping along for some pancakes and crispy bacon.

Prices are good, £10 for a 2 meat board and 2 slides / £12 for 3 meats and 2 sides and you do get a lot for your money. They seem to be the most popular choice and the variety board featuring all the meats would be great between two, maybe even three! We decided to get a mix of the meats and try a bit of everything. Chicken wings can be a variety of spices from hot to bbq depending on what you're after, the pulled pork and brisket are good and you get a lot! Whilst the ribs were alright, I probably wouldn't choose to order them on a return visit, though the sausage would definitely be on my board. We did end up with extra chicken wings, no idea how but we went with it. Who can say no to extra chicken?

Would I go back? Yes. I'd avoid peak times or weekends (and Monday when both are closed) and probably opt for midweek afternoon/early evening to avoid a long wait, though I'll definitely be checking out breakfast, served 7:30-11:30am and the new Jesmond offering!

Have you been to Longhorns? What did you think?
