Videodrome (by Canadian director David Cronenberg) is an amazing film from the mid-eighties. It works because it's NOT franchised horror. The key to Videodrome's success and longevity as a piece of horror art is it's horror of a truy PERSONAL nature, specific to the intellectual whims and sexual interests of the video's propaganda merchant David Cronenberg.
Videodrome proves that You The People are being weakened, so that you will not fight back when the bio attacks start to proliferate society, so that you will not care when the cyber attacks melt your systems, so that we will not recognize the threat from our own governments, via television. And the insanely-monotonous chinese torture room scenes (as well as being TORTURE PORN precursors, Youtube, Saw, Hostel et al) are more about how the Mainstream Media now controls everyone. The premise of Videodrome's cold wet clay lined room of electric pain was born in MK Ultra mind control techniques and aped how T.H.E.Y. would eventually mind control everyone into global tyranny with their 9-11, 7-7 and 11-3 'war of terror' attacks on your collective psyche.

Yeah, sure, I'm trying to care, trying to give a fuck, so let me continue with my extrrrrrrrremely belated update on this overtly topical subject, MIND CONTROL.
Major VISUAL TRAUMA and sexual imagery, erm, that's eveything VIDEODROME is all about.
Imagine all us 'wounded souls' who have suffered child-sexual-abuse trauma: now, imagine all of us 'wounded souls' who have witnessed the visual atrocity that was 9/11 or the visual atrocity of Vietnam or the Zapruder JFK footage or internet beheadings or Police State brutality against innocent protestors or banned sex-horror films in our teens or any other million miles of insane and brutal Clockwork Orange-like video footage that have been SHAT ONTO THE HUMAN PSYCHE by T.H.E.Y. and here we are at the point where we can sit at our computer screens for HOURS ON END like worthless but insanely willing war-drones of the mind-game in the full beam of the covert videocodec messages and the full beam of the brain-boiling radiation known as WIFI to do T.H.E.Y.'s bidding, for them.
