London Poetry

By Lwblog @londonwalks
London Poetry October 2nd 2014 is National Poetry Day and we've been canvassing a few of the London Walks guides on the subject of their favorite poems. We're also putting poetry center stage on the next episode of the London Walks Podcast.
LW's Richard III gets the ball rolling on our poetry season…
London Poetry I recite the following poem on Legal London in the undercroft of the chapel of Lincoln's Inn, said to be the bell referred to.
John Donne was a member of the Inn.
No man is an island entire of itself; every man  is a piece of the continent, a part of the main;  if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe  is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as  well as any manner of thy friends or of thine  own were; any man's death diminishes me,  because I am involved in mankind.  And therefore never send to know for whom
the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.
The Legal London Walk goes every Wednesday, full details HERE.
