Lockheed F-94C Starfire

HDR@Peterson Air and Space Museum, Peterson AFB, Colorado Springs, CO

December 2013

Thanks to my brother-in-law, we got onto Peterson AFB for a New Year’s Day photo mission under gorgeous weather conditions.  The museum has a small but wonderful collection of Cold War jet aircraft.  It’s a pity that the public is unable to enjoy this, but that is also why these outdoor static displays can remain free of vandalism.  The Lockheed F-94 Starfire was the United States Air Force’s first  jet all-weather interceptor aircraft. With the C-version the guns were removed and replaced with an all-rocket armament consisting of 24 unguided rockets.  The F-94C was the only variant to be officially named Starfire.  Nikon D7000, processing with Photomatix and Snapheal Pro.
