The Deutsches Museum in Munich is one of the great technology museums of the world, and I was fortunate to visit the facility during a recent vacation.   I love the look of Starfighters and was pleased to see this example displayed as a centerpiece when you first enter this gallery.  The original F-104 was reworked to convert it from a fair-weather fighter into an all-weather ground-attack, reconnaissance, and interceptor aircraft, becoming the F-104G.  The F-104G was used by the German air force (Luftwaffe) from 1963 until 1991, of the 916 Starfighters flown by the Luftwaffe, approximately one third was lost in accidents. Nikon D7000 w/18-200mm, processed with Photomatix Pro and Aperture.
