This past Tuesday, Landlady threw a “Holiday Spectacular” at Mercury Lounge featuring a ton of great bands, like Celestial Shore and Xenia Rubinos. If you weren’t lucky enough to be present (I wasn’t), perhaps a very fitting consolation prize would be the Christmas song released by Landlady on the same day as their recent celebration. The track is a playful cover of Charles Brown’s “Please Come Home For Christmas”, and it features Amelia Meath of Sylvan Esso. Like everything else Adam Schatz has a hand in, it’s fun and soulful with Meath’s classic lilt complementarily floating besides his deep jazz tones and moans. Their version of “Please Come Home For Christmas” is a part of Hometapes’ annual holiday compilation and all proceeds go towards The Bushwick School of Music. You can download copy of I may be lost but I’m laughing here. Listen to Landlady and Amelia Meath’s “Please Come Home For Christmas” above.
