Posted on the 17 September 2012 by Azharnadeem

Blasphemous content blocked in PakistanPakistan has blocked over 700 links leading to blasphemous content. An anti-Islam YouTube video has triggered violent protests in Islamic world. U.S envoy to Libya lost his life as a result of violent protests. Protesters also went violent in Pakistan as well on Sunday and tried to attack U.S Consulate in Karachi.

Government only took decision to block the blasphemous content after Supreme Court directed Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to block all the links.

Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry ordered PTA to track and block all the sacrilegious content that disgraces Islam or Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H) in any manner. PTA chief is required to submit a report about the actions taken in this regard.

PTA director general told Supreme Court that almost 100 clips of film with blasphemous content are being uploaded every day. According to him PTA wrote to YouTube administration requesting the elimination of such content. Famous video-sharing website has replied that there is no agreement with Government of Pakistan to entertain such requests.
