When chatting away, I just had to take Carli to The Botanist for a round of drinks…
The Botanist in Newcastle gives me all kinds of ‘feels’. As soon as I walk up those flights of stairs and into their main seating area, I just can’t help but sigh in awe of its beauty. Overlooking Grey’s Monument and the hustle and bustle of the centre, it is the perfect place to sip your cares away, whilst watching the world pass you by from a height. Everything is so detailed, from the exposed scaffolding to the quirky light fittings, to the big and beautiful tree turned tree house turned cocktail bar in the heart of the restaurant.
It was a Newcastle match day so it was rather busy when we first arrived but managed to swipe some high tables that were available for around an hour – all the time we needed! After looking the menu up and down several times, we decided to go for cocktails that were not our usual choices, their signature Botanist mix with a Botanist Pornstar on the side, thank you very much! If there is one thing I love about cocktails, it’s watching the process behind them and The Botanist put hard work into each and every one of their masterpieces, with the presentation being key.
We started off by halving the shot of prosecco (lol) and sipping away on our Pornstar Martini. You could certainly tell fresh fruit had been used due to the thick texture, which totally means it was a little bit healthy right? The Passionfruit taste exploded with a blend of strawberries and pineapple to balance out the vodka – perfecto. The Botanist cocktail has fewer ingredients, with vodka, rum and elderflower liqueur, but its beauty lies in the presentation – just look at those flowers sitting between the misty concoction, an Instagrammer’s dream.
The Botanist is another place I’ll go back to, especially for one of their Sunday Roasts that Carli and I were so obviously drooling at as they came out. Yorkshire puddings for days! Let me know your favorite cocktails, I’d love to know what your go-to is!
