By Cleverbuttons @cleverbuttons

I know we are all over winter by now, but I would like to tell everything about a couple types of knitwear. Most people think knitwear is only for the winter season, but it is not. Several types of knitwear include versatile brands that you can where it in any season!

Different types of knitwear

Jumpers (A.K.A Aran Jumper)

These were originally knotted using “black sheep” wool that still had its natural oils to make the sweaters water resistant for fishermen. Jumpers are known by their style of textured stitch patterns that are significant to religious beliefs

1. The Honeycomb: Symbol of a hard-working bee like many fishermen are.

2.The Cable: A wish for safety and good luck while fishing

3. The Diamond: A wish for success, wealth, and treasure

4. The Basket: Represented the fishermen’s fish basket and was a hope for plenty of fish.

These can be light or heavy, depending on what style you want to wear. They are versatile, meaning you can wear it in whatever season, men and women can wear them, and it can be formal or informal. Cardigans usually button in the front, however occasionally you will see them zip up in the front. These are a less formal model of the wool waistcoat the British officers supposedly wore during the war, except theirs were much heavier and longer.

Many different types of people wear cardigans. In addition, to all the different ways you can wear them. Often, people wear them over button-up shirts or inside suit jackets. They are even worn by male skateboards over their T-shirts!

Different Types of Knits

There are three types of knits that are made for more durable, warm clothes. First, we have the Double Knit

1. Interlock stitching

2. Made from polyester or wool fabric

3. “Rib-like” appearance on both sides

4. Easy to cut and sew

5. Do not have seam finishes so they do not ravel

6. Heavy, firm, do not stretch as much and they are more resilient.

In addition, there is the Rib Knit

* “Rib-like” stitching like the Double Knit

* Made with two sets of needles

* Made to stretch, therefore has elastic in the fabric

* Made warm for winter clothes

* Used for shirts, blouses, stocking, sweaters, leggings, etc.

Last, but not least, we have the popular Jersey Knit

* Distinct flat, vertical lines on the face of the piece of clothing

* Dominant horizontal rib stitches on the reverse side of the piece of clothing

* Made for hosiery sweaters, sports wear (jerseys) and more
