Let’s Revv It Up for 2013

By Linsibrownson @CleverSpark

Show of hands, who is stoked that 2012 is almost over?

If you’re not (like me, actually) it’s likely that you are having a bit of a panic attack because A) You STILL have a lot to get done this year B) You are not yet prepared for next year C) Both or D) You just don’t want to be a year older.

If your answer was D – sorry Charlie, go check out Oprah’s blog.

For everyone else,  this is the beginning of a blog series called Revv It Up that I will be sharing every Thursday through the end of this year.  RrrrRRRrrrr…..[engines beginning to revv]

Part 1 of Revv It Up

Take a good hard look at how far you’ve come.  A Year in Review, if you will.

No matter how many times you said “I will not make ANY Resolutions this year” on Dec 31, 2011 – you were lying.  Because you did. You had a goal, a hope, a dream that you would indeed do __________ in 2012.

Go on, what was it?

Did you accomplish it?  Don’t get down on yourself if you didn’t.  Making resolutions & setting goals is part of a larger desire for growth or improvement – one of the tenets of happiness.  So pat yourself on the back for having the happy gene lodged in there somewhere.

Regardless of whether or not you achieved your specific goal, you are definitely NOT in the same place you were this time last year.

Let’s take a little trip back to late 2011.  We’re going to interview that YOU for a little compare and contrast exercise.  Kind of like this.
You 2012: “Hey, 2011 Linsi.  I’m you from the future.” You 2011: “Wow, cool.  You look amazing!” You 2012: “I know right?  Listen, I’m doing this thing for my blog and I was hoping you would help me – I need you to remind me about myself & my life back then.” You 2011: “Sure, no problem.   So how’s life now?” You 2012: [Smiling smugly] “I can’t tell you that.  Don’t want to mess anything up…just keep the faith, chica, keep the faith.”

Don’t you just want to give them a hug?

Okay, next step.  As the present YOU, look at those answers in comparison to how you would answer now.

Are you working differently?  Better?  Worse?

Are your relationships different?

How about your eating habits, or your daily routine?

Make a note of what has changed for you, both personally and professionally. What was the biggest improvement you made in 2012?  What is what you hoped for?

No matter how big or small, I want you to value all the things you have done to try and improve your life.

Next Week on Revv It Up we will be THINKING BIG thoughts and getting ready to create our strategy for 2013.  Stay tuned! Another great tool is the 3 Part Idea Catching E-venture  – Sign Up here.
