Leaving on a Jet Plane…Mommy Daughter Trip!

By Martinisandminivans @martinisandmini

Take away the stress from Blogger Idol, take away writing deadlines, take away graduate school papers, and take away the fact that my eyebrows currently look like Bert’s from Sesame Street, and you have what really matters in the world.  My family.  And tomorrow, what really matters is that my almost-4 year old daughter and I go on our first Mommy/Daughter trip.  We are going to visit my best friend and her family in Virginia.  A weekend filled with little girls,  American Girls dolls, soccer games, Daisy troop events, and last but not least – Friendly’s Ice Cream. I’m not sure how many of you are from the east coast and are familiar with Friendly’s Ice Cream, but it is hands down the best ice cream I have ever eaten.  I’m quite certain that I spent every Saturday night at the take out counter of the one by our house growing up.  It could explain why I never have been able to truly get rid of my gut.

So I’m off for a few days with just the girl and me as traveling companions.  I can’t wait to sit next to her on the airplane and watch that beautiful face of hers light up when she feels the plane take off.  I can’t wait to watch her excitement to see her doll get her hair done at the Take-All-My Money American Girls Doll store, and I can’t wait to see my daughter and my best friend’s daughters play together.  And of course, I can’t wait to watch her get ice cream all over her face and then try to lick it all off.  And I’ll be sitting across from her doing the exact same thing.

To give you a “taste” of what you’ll be missing - here’s a picture of their famous Reeses Peanut Butter Cup Sundae.  It’s like what crack is to Lindsey Lohan. Yeah, that good.
