For our daughter’s 4th birthday, we decided to buy her a LeapFrog LeapPad Explorer Learning Tablet. I already knew that we were in for a treat because, I tried to find one for Christmas and it was sold out everywhere.

As soon as she opened it, she was off and running within a few minutes. I assume this is because she already had adequate experience with touch screens & tablets along with her strange addiction to Angry Birds.

The Mr. Pencil game that came with it is pretty decent and it teaches her how to write letters and shapes with the stylus. She also loves the pet pad game.

It also gives you the ability to connect it to a computer and download content. We downloaded a few games and an ebook. They are fairly expensive compared to games you would find in maybe the iPhone app store, but we can live with that.

As for durability, I give this thing an A+. She has dragged it around by the string and dropped it multiple times.

The only major complaint I have is the battery life. We’ve gone through 2 or 3 sets of AA batteries in a single day so we had to invest in some rechargeable ones. I would also recommend purchasing the power adapter to avoid draining batteries when at home.

Overall, it’s a pretty neat product and good educational toy
Definitely worth the buy!
