Here's some of the latest racing news from around the country, including news on Triumph Hurdle winner Our Conor, Donald McCain and Thursday's meeting at Huntington.
Triumph Hurdle hero Our Conor has been bought by leading owner Barry Connell.The four-year-old was an easy 15-length winner of the Grade One event at Cheltenham last week, completing a double at the highest level and taking his tally to four wins in as many starts over hurdles for trainer Dessie Hughes.Connell was impressed with what he saw at Prestbury Park and snapped up the Jeremy gelding for an undisclosed sum from the Man About Town Syndicate.He said: "I basically agreed the deal yesterday and it has been finalised today. I'm very pleased as he's an exciting horse and I was very impressed with what I saw at Cheltenham."Hopefully with a little bit of improvement, you would imagine he should be a Champion Hurdle contender next year. Donald McCain has admitted that he felt "devastated" by the poor performance of Peddlers Cross in last week's World Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.The 2011 Champion Hurdle winner had looked on his way back to form with a confidence-boosting victory at Musselburgh on his previous start, but was always struggling in the World Hurdle, eventually being pulled up before two out."We're doing some tests on him this week so see where we are," said McCain. Read the rest at SKY SPORTS/RACINGThursday's National Hunt meeting at Huntingdon has been abandoned due to flooding.Not only is the track in no fit state at the moment due to standing water, parts of the infrastructure, such as the stable block, are also flooded.Clerk of the course Sulekha Varma has said: "The water level has gone down a bit but it is not dropping quickly enough."We've had three pumps going all night and have brought another couple in but we've got issues with the stable area and the service road is unusable."There's just too much water to shift. We race again on Easter Monday, April 1, so we'll aim to get everything sorted by then."
