Laneige Water Sleeping Mask Review

laneige water sleeping mask review

I dreaded using moisturizers. I have combination skin but the oily parts are dominant, so using moisturizers makes my skin sticky and more oily. It’s annoying! Despite that I still have to use a moisturizer. Yes, even if you have oily skin you still have to use it because moisturizer helps prevent wrinkles and generally makes skin look good especially when you’re already in your 20’s. So when I heard about Laneige’s sleeping pack that moisturizes but isn’t sticky, I knew I have to try it. Read my Laneige Water Sleeping Mask review to know if it’s really worth the hype.

But finding this product wasn’t easy. Despite a lot of people outside of South Korea –like the US, Singapore, and Malaysia– already got their hands on the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask, there are still some countries who doesn’t have a Laneige store. So at the bottom of this post, I linked all the stores where you could buy this. But first, the review.

What is it?

Laneige Water Sleeping Mask is a gel-type product that provides intensive hydration, vitality, and brightening effect. It claims to restore your skin and its moisture as you sleep. Giving your skin a well-rested, moisturized, and lively look like you had an 8-hour sleep… even if you didn’t.

It’s perfect for all skin types. So if you have oily or combination skin, this product is for you. It contains Beta Glucan for skin regeneration, Ceramide SLN for moisture loss protection, Hubza Apricot Extract for skin purification, and Chestnut Extract for improving skin texture.

This is different from the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask which has a balm texture that makes your lips get smooth and exfoliated overnight.

PERFORMANCE

APPLICATION: After your night skincare routine, take adequate amount of mask using the spatula (or not, because I lost mine and I’m okay). Gently apply on the face in the direction of skin texture, starting from inside of the face and working outward in upward movement. Then leave it overnight, and wash your face the next morning.

PACKAGING: It is sold in a 70mL glass jar so it’s heavy while the cap is a hard plastic. But don’t worry if you dropped this, it doesn’t break easily. It also comes with a spatula, all packaged in a box with minimalist design.

SMELL: It has a very mild soothing smell, kinda reminds me of chamomile so it’s perfect for sleeping.

TEXTURE: As mentioned above, this is a light gel-type overnight moisturizer. It’s not too thick, but not too light. Despite it is labeled as a “water sleeping mask” it’s not watery at all, nor droopping while applying it.

RESULTS: Upon applying, as mentioned, it’s not watery nor droopy. It’s not sticky at all since it is a gel which is the best type with those oily skin. It’s light so sleeping with it is comfortable. It is also a bit cold so you could feel your skin relaxing.

I’ve been using this for almost a year now, I only stopped when I had chicken pox, but I continued using it again after I was done with my medication. Whenever I wake up with Laneige Water Sleeping Mask, without any bullsh***, my skin looks healthier. It’s moisturized without stickiness nor extra oiliness. I sleep around 2-3am so this really helps my skin. But if you already have skin problems like dark spots or acne before using this product, don’t expect that it will heal it. This is just for moisture and keep your skin healthy. But it will not worsen your acne.

PROS: Non-sticky and will really make you look well-rested, like you had an 8-hour sleep even if you didn’t.

CONS: Too expensive compared to your average moisturizer, and hard to find.

Do I really need to apply this at night? I haven’t tried using this on day time, but I highly recommend that you follow the instruction and use it at night because night time skin transmission (permeability) is higher than day time. So it means, applying products like the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask works best at night before sleep than daytime. It maximizes the efficiency of the product.
