L’Élair De Génie: Dessert Sausages

Third time’s a charm. The first time that Grape and I tried get own hands on some eclairs from the newly opened L’éclair de Génie, everything was sold out! They even had a huge SOLD OUT sign… I’m guessing it’s a frequent occurrence. The second time, I just finished drinking bubble tea before remembering that L’éclair was on Robson – that was my bad. Finally, like a genie, Grape granted my wish and popped by the Starbucks I was at to drop one off!

Grape didn’t tell me which one she got for me, but after a quick googley search, I’m betting it’s the Chocolat Grand Cru. I didn’t know they could make éclairs so pretty! My experience with these little dessert sausages goes as far as the frozen ice cream ones from Costco.

The chocolate cream was smooth and rich without being overly heavy. The pastry had a pleasant airy chew to it. On the whole, the éclair wasn’t too sweet.

Of course, there are loads more flavours, ranging from Matcha Bambou (matcha cream and white chocolate) to Citron Yuzu (lemon yuzu cream and crispy meringue). The one flavour that I want to try most would be the Pistache Framboises: pistachio Chantilly, raspberry confit, fresh raspberries and roasted pistachios. Hopefully, the élcairs won’t have already vanished like a genie when I visit next time.
