Kristin Bauer van Straten (Pamela Sywnford de Beaufort) will introduce a documentary special about elephant poaching entitled Earth Focus: Illicit Ivory. The special is set to air on Southern California public television station KCET on May 27th and it will be broadcast nationwide for Directv and Dish customers on Link TV Network at 9pm PT/ET May 28th.
The focus of Illicit Ivory will be on the devastating effects of the ivory trade including its impact on the dwindling African elephant population and the link between the ivory trade and organized crime and insurgency groups.
This is not Kristin’s first foray into the issue of the ivory trade. She is currently in process of producing her own elephant poaching documentary Out for Africa and she has spoken about the issue in the past.
