Kristin Bauer van Straten recently stopped by Entertainment Weekly to chat with Sandra Gonzalez about the challenges her character Pamela Swynford de Beaufort will be facing this season. The general theme for season is a fight for survival. I don’t know about you Truebies but Governor Burrell (Arliss Howard) creeps me out and for good reason. We’ve already seen that he’s been experimenting on vampires in to order manufacture weapons like the one that shot Tara (Rutina Wesley) during Sunday’s premiere, something which Bauer van Straten describes as interesting:

”That is quite something. It’s just all part of the theme that the tables have turned and the vampires are being hunted….[The humans] are figuring out how to fight back.”

Pam herself is on the precipice of losing everything. As we saw in the season premiere, Fangtasia was shut down and she’s still on the outs with Eric (Alexander Skarsgård). And it’s only going to get worse from there:

“Pam’s world in the past has only been shaken by what her world mainly consisted of, which is Eric. This year, that also is part of the problem still; they haven’t completely reconciled,” she says. “But she’s no longer the top of the food chain. She’s always learned how to break the law and not get caught … but she is now being hunted. She actually has moved from complete freedom to less and less and that’s exceedingly hard for her She doesn’t like change — she has Eric, she has Fangtasia… that’s her whole world. So one by one, she’s losing everything she values.”

Tune in on Sunday to see where Pam ends up next in True Blood episode 6×02, “The Sun” on HBO at 9PM!
