Kristin Bauer Interviewed about Out For Africa on HuffPost LiveTrue Blood’s Kristin Bauer van Straten was interviewed today by Huff Post Live. In the interview, she discusses True Blood, Pam and her love for the show. She also discusses her current project trying to save the elephants and rhinos who are being killed for their tusks. Over the summer, she went to Africa and shot film which she is developing into a documentary called, “Out For Africa” that she hopes will help the cause.

Kristin is doing wonders to bring attention to this horrible practice of ivory poaching which, if not stopped, will soon cause elephants to be extinct in the wild; just like rhinos who already are.  Please consider doing your part to help this cause.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

1.  DON’T BUY IVORY:

Would anyone buy ivory if they had witnessed the cruel slaughter of elephants to obtain it? Read about it here: guardian.co.uk.

2. FOSTER AN ORPHAN ELEPHANT AS A HOLIDAY GIFT

“Please help us help an orphaned elephantby fostering one of the orphans directly
through our website as a gift of life”  Daphne Sheldrick

If you’re trying to think of something to give to your family or friends this holiday season, why not consider donating to THE DAVID SHELDRICK WILDLIFE TRUST FOSTERING PROGRAMIt takes only $50 per year fostering fee to save an elephant.

A tiny newborn elephant is orphaned, often its mother and family gunned down to serve the Ivory trade, its life support gone; any survivors fleeing in terror; its fate now suffering and death in hopeless and lonely isolation it cannot understand. For an elephant, the family is all important; its very existence dependent upon its mother’s milk for the first two years of life and a life that should span three score years and ten, equivalent to that of man. In a perfect world that elephant life would be filled with fun and joy through the companionship of friends and a closeknit and loving family, whose love is pure and unconditional all the days of its life. 3. BID ON KRISTIN’S PAINTING CURRENTLY UP FOR AUCTION:

It took Kristin Bauer over 20 hours to paint this portrait of Stephen Moyer as Bill Compton in the iconic scene from the first episode of True Blood when Bill and Sookie lock eyes for the very first time in Merlotte’s.

The painting is oil on canvas and measures 14” x 18″ (35,5 x 46 cm), both Kristin Bauer and Stephen Moyer signed the painting.
