Kim Jong Un Visits Ku’msusan on 24 December

DPRK state media reported that Kim Jong Un (Kim Cho’ng-u’n) visited the Ku’msusan Memorial Palace of the Sun on 24 December (Tuesday).  Also in attendance were VMar Choe Ryong Hae (Director of the Korean People’s Army [KPA] General Political Department), Gen. Ri Yong Gil (Chief of the KPA General Staff), Gen. Jang Jong Nam (Minister of the People’s Armed Forces), Col. Gen. Pyon In Son (Director of the KPA General Staff Operations Bureau), Col. Gen. So Hong Chan (1st Vice Minister of the People’s Armed Forces), Lt. Gen. Kim Su Gil (Vice Minister of the People’s Armed Forces), Lt. Gen. Ryom Chol Song and senior KPA commanders.  Kim Jong Un’s last observed appearance was his attendance at a 17 December national memorial service commemorating the 2nd anniversary of the death of late supreme leader Kim Jong Il (Kim Cho’ng-il).

Kim Jong Un visited Ku’msusan to mark the 22nd anniversary of Kim Jong Il’s appointment as KPA Supreme Commander and the official birth anniversary of Kim Jong Suk (Kim Cho’ng-suk), mother of Kim Jong Il and Kim Kyong Hui (Kim Kyo’ng-hu’i).  Kim Jong Un entered Ku’msusan’s statue hall along with an honor guard representing the KPA’s ground, navy and air forces and the Worker-Peasant Red Guards.  Kim Jong Un bowed in front of the statues.  Along with the members of the KPA high command in attendance, Kim Jong Un visited the chamber containing the preserved remains of his grandfather, late DPRK President and founder Kim Il Sung (Kim Il-so’ng) where he “paid homage in the humblest reverence to him.”  He visited exhibition halls showing Kim Il Sung’s various honorary degrees and titles, his railway coach and sedan.  Kim Jong Un then visited a chamber containing the remains of his father Kim Jong Il where he “paid homage in the humblest reverence to him.”  He also visited an exhibition hall containing some of the late leader’s personal effects.
